The Carers Queensland LAC PITC Be Your Own Boss program will be running this year in Gladstone and Rockhampton for people who identify that they have a disability: a six-month program featuring fortnightly workshops helping people with disability to build towards an opportunity to sell and/or promote their products or services.
These workshops are FREE and open to anyone who identifies that they have a disability, they do not have to be on the NDIS scheme.
About:
Microbusinesses provide a great opportunity for people with disability to earn an income, increase self-confidence and achieve greater independence.
If you are interested in self-employment, the Be Your Own Boss Microbusiness Program will empower, educate and support you to create or grow your own microbusiness.
Each program runs over a six-month period with fortnightly workshops facilitated by Carers Queensland, building towards an opportunity to sell and/or promote your products or services at the end of the program.
We are also looking for business mentors and a potential peer mentor with lived experience for the various Be Your Own Boss workshops being held throughout 2025 alongside potential participants to take part in this exciting opportunity.
Want to learn more? Please submit your expression of interest here: www.carersqld.com.au/ndis/inclusion-projects/be-your-own-boss/
Volunteer Mentors will have the opportunity to:
• share their professional knowledge and experience while giving back to the community.
• broaden their awareness and understanding of people with disability, and the benefits of inclusion and accessibility within professional and community environments.
We already have a number of mentors signed up for this program, but are still searching for BYOB business mentors who can speak on the following topics:
1. Marketing and social media
2. Legal considerations, contracts, intellectual property and insurance
