World-first respiratory monitor in clinical use, thanks to Ignite Ideas funding

PEMDx is a recent recipient of Round 9 of the Ignite Ideas Fund where they received $100,000 to commercialise the Flow-Bag Oxygen Respiratory Indicator.

This world-first respiratory monitor helps health care staff conduct respiratory assessments. The bag can be fitted to any standard oxygen mask, and it inflates and deflates as a patient breathes.

It is a low cost, disposable alternative when it’s not possible to use traditional monitoring machines, such as in recovery, the emergency department and ward areas.

Since PEMDx received their funding, the Flow-Bag Oxygen Mask Respiratory Indicator is now in clinical use across multiple hospitals in Brisbane.

Director and Co-founder Dylan Rowe said, “Our early adopters have noted significant benefits including reduced cognitive load during patient care, and rapid identification of patient’s respiratory state.” Find out more >>
