Livingstone Shire Council has officially launched its festive season “Shop Here This Year – Buy Local Livingstone” campaign, encouraging residents and visitors to support the wide range of local businesses across the Capricorn Coast.
Running now through to 5 January 2026, the initiative aims to drive community spending toward local retailers, cafés, tradies, service providers, and the hundreds of small businesses that shape the region’s character and economy.
The campaign comes with an added incentive: thanks to Yeppoon Small Motors, shoppers who make a purchase at any Livingstone-registered business can enter the Buy Local Prize Draw for the chance to win a STIHL RMA 460 battery lawnmower, including battery and charger, valued at over $900.
Entering is simple:
- Make a purchase at any local business within Livingstone Shire.
- Upload a clear photo of the receipt, showing the business name and date.
- Register your details so you can be contacted if you’re the lucky winner.
Mayor Adam Belot described the campaign as an important reminder of the real impact behind every local purchase:
“When we shop local, we’re not just buying a product – we’re supporting our neighbours, helping local families thrive, and keeping money circulating within our community.”
The Capricornia Chamber of Commerce is proud to support this initiative, noting that strong local spending helps ensure local businesses remain resilient, competitive, and capable of creating ongoing employment opportunities across the region.
Beyond purchasing locally, the campaign also highlights the simple, everyday ways people can boost local businesses during the busiest time of the year:
- Liking and sharing their posts
- Leaving positive online reviews
- Tagging local businesses on social media
- Choosing local products and services whenever possible
A new Buy Local video is set to be released shortly, showcasing Yeppoon’s CBD, the region’s coastal lifestyle, and the many businesses that make the Capricorn Coast such a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
