Rockhampton set to ‘beef up’ the NEDC2018 conference experience

The countdown is on as Rockhampton prepares to host the 2018 National Economic Development Conference with unforgettable style. Held from October 16-19, the conference is a must-attend for Australian economic development practitioners and government leaders.

Over 200 attendees will descend on Rockhampton’s Pilbeam Theatre for the three-day annual Economic Development Australia conference, which will feature discussions around disruptive innovation, economic growth, and job and business creation.

But NEDC2018 is not all work and no play – attendees will be treated to the very best that Rockhampton has to offer, including a Beef and Bulls dinner at the iconic Great Western Hotel, a glittering Awards Dinner held under the stars and a signature Explore Rockhampton tour.

Advance Rockhampton is behind the event, and General Manager Tony Cullen says his team have plans to make this the biggest and best event Economic Development Australia has seen yet.

“It’s a huge privilege for Rockhampton to host the National Economic Development Conference 2018. We are proud to bring Australia’s economic development thought leaders to Rockhampton and show them the best that regional Queensland has to offer – from career-developing information right through to crowd-pleasing entertainment,” said Mr Cullen.

NEDC2018’s keynote speakers so far include business leader, author and mentor Mark Bouris, ethics and robotics advocate Dr Catherine Ball, business communicator Chris Helder and engineer and business strategist Nick Palousis.

Rockhampton’s strong economic development agenda plus the desire to shine on the national stage was behind the city’s bid to host the conference, and recent growth in Rockhampton makes the city an attractive proposition.

“There’s so much for conference attendees to see and do in Rockhampton, so forget what you think you know about the Beef Capital. We’re set on not only giving a memorable conference experience, but exhibiting how Rockhampton has grown into its own unique city with strengths in mining, agriculture, tourism and much more.”

Earlybird registration for NEDC2018 closes August 14. The full conference ticket includes the conference program plus the welcome cocktails, Explore Rockhampton tour and two signature dinners with entertainment. Tickets for individual conference days or events can be purchased separately.
