Wage Subsidy Support for Small Businesses Employing Apprentices

Central Queensland’s small and family-owned businesses can now access wage subsidies through the Small Business Apprenticeship Pilot Program, a joint initiative of the Queensland and Australian Governments.

The program reimburses eligible employers for a portion of apprentice wages during training — covering up to 50% of first and second-year wages and 25% in the third and fourth years, for a total of up to 32 weeks of support.

To qualify, businesses must have 19 or fewer employees, a turnover under $10 million, and employ an apprentice in an eligible construction, plumbing, engineering, or electrical trade.

Registrations are open until the first 2,000 eligible apprentices are approved, so early applications are encouraged.
